Fruit Tart
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 whole orange or lemon zest
- 1 3/4 cup fruit preserve of your choice (apricot or strawberry)
Preparation:
- In a large bowl, mix the butter and sugar by hand until smooth.
- Add the egg, vanilla, zest, flour, baking powder, and mix until well combined.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions.
- In a medium-size oven tray, spread one portion of the dough and cover it with the jelly,
- Bake at a temperature of 375*F on the lower rack for 40 minutes.
- Broil for a few seconds while carefully watching until it is golden.
- Remove from the oven and cut into small squares using a sharp knife.
- Allow the cooling transfer to the serving dish.
