Fruit Tart

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 whole orange or lemon zest
  • 1 3/4 cup fruit preserve of your choice (apricot or strawberry)
Preparation:
  1. In a large bowl, mix the butter and sugar by hand until smooth.
  2. Add the egg, vanilla, zest, flour, baking powder, and mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
  4. In a medium-size oven tray, spread one portion of the dough and cover it with the jelly,
  5. Bake at a temperature of 375*F on the lower rack for 40 minutes.
  6. Broil for a few seconds while carefully watching until it is golden. 
  7. Remove from the oven and cut into small squares using a sharp knife.
  8. Allow the cooling transfer to the serving dish.
