Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup of cocoa powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup yogurt
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. lemon zest
- 1 1/2 stick of unsalted butter (or 3/4 cup)
Sauce:
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup of cocoa
- 1 1/3 cup milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter cut into cubes
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation:
- In a bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, and cocoa.
- Mix and set aside
- In a small bowl, mix the eggs, vanilla, and lemon zest and set aside.
- With an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar on high speed for about 1 minute.
- Add the egg mixture and beat again for 2 min.
- Scrape the sides of the bowl and blend the flour mixture until combined.
- Add the milk and yogurt and beat on medium-high speed for about 2 to 3 min until it gets fluffy.
- Grease the bundt pan, pour the batter, and bake at a temperature of 350*F for 25 to 40 minutes.
- When done, let the cake rest for 1 min then turn it over onto the serving dish.
- Prepare the sauce while the cake is baking as you will need to pour the sauce over the cake as soon as the cake it turned onto a serving dish.
To prepare the sauce:
- In a small saucepan, cook the sugar, sifted the cocoa powder, milk, butter, and vanilla over high hear.
- Bring just to the boiling point, remove immediately, and set aside until the cake is done.
- Pour half the mixture on the cake and place the other half in a bowl to serve with the cake.
- Serve with strawberries or raspberries on the side.
